An inmate at the Warren County Jail faces various drug charges for allegedly passing drugs sewn into underwear to other inmates.

Amanda D. Brown, 44, of Sheffield, faces three counts of possession with intent to deliver controlled substances, six counts of contraband, and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, detectives from Warren County Drug Task Force learned that Brown intended to deliver drug “by dropping off whites with the drugs attached to them.”

On June 21, jail staff said an inmate tried to deliver whites to an inmate who was not eligible to receive them, according to the affidavit.

That ineligible inmate “contacted Brown and notified her that the whites needed to be for” another inmate “so that the staff would accept them,” according to the affidavit.

When Brown allegedly attempted to deliver the underwear again, a corrections officer stopped her and searched for contraband, according to the affidavit.

“It was discovered that an item appearing to be plastic in nature and containing an unknown substance was sewn into the crotch of three white pairs of Hanes briefs,” according to the affidavit.

About 33 phone calls were made between the inmates, according to the affidavit.

Officers determined that Brown was “delivering Suboxone — a Schedule III Controlled Substance — to inmates in Warren County jail.”

Brown was arraigned Thursday before District Judge Raymond Zydonik who set bail at $25,000, and taken back to the jail.

Starting at $3.50/week.
