Woman’s Club joins Boy Scouts in U.S. flag disposal project

In partnership with the Chief Cornplanter Council, Boy Scouts of America, the Woman’s Club of Warren will collect worn or tattered flags for disposal. Our glorious Stars and Stripes should not fly or be hung when faded, torn, stained, or otherwise not suitable for display. We have a solution for disposal.

Beginning today, a collection box marked for flags will be available at the side door of the Woman’s Club. Enter by the driveway off Market Street between the WCCBI office and the Woman’s Club on the left. The flag-marked box is at the top of the stairs, adjacent to the bright pink door. Simply deposit your flag in the box and close the lid. There is no accounting – nothing else to do.

As you ready your flag for hanging on this week’s Flag Day, check to see if you have an old flag or two. All collected flags will be disposed of during the proper ritual administered by our local Scouts.

The Woman’s Club members are grateful for all that the Scouts do in our community and are eager to assist them with their annual tradition of flag retirement ceremonies.

Starting at $2.99/week.
