WCSD support dogs added to today’s downtown Children’s Interactive Festival

With nearly a thousand people of all ages enjoying it last year, the Children’s Interactive Festival returns to downtown Warren today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the theme “May the 4th Be With You!”

Ruby Wiles, founder and director of Free Books for Kids Town, the festival’s presenter, announced an addition to the already full event:

“We are thrilled to have a booth representing the Warren County School District’s PAWSitive Support program,” she said. “Knowing the powerful impact these wonderful dogs have on children’s learning, it is so great that they will be with us.”

Among the festival’s more than 20 other hands-on and entertaining activities are painting Star Wars masks made by Toy Shoppe volunteers, a trash trivia challenge, a science experiment, new items in the World War II display, tool building, stories and more.

The event will include a parade and costume contest on Second Avenue between Liberty Street and the fountain.

Food available includes Light Sabers, pizza, meatball subs, Oreo Space Dunk cookies, and Star Wars fruit gummies.

In celebration of May 4 as National Free Comic Book Day, Kids Town Books in Warren Antiques, 306 Second Ave.,is giving out 1,000 free comic books from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on a first-come, first served basis.
