Warren youths’ lemonade stand benefits library

Lemonade stands, and garage sales pop up in the summer, offering fun and tasty finds and usually giving the organizer a little spending money.

Sometimes, these summer staple sales have a more significant impact on the community.

Nola and Delta Richardson and Ashlynn and Aiden Zawacki set up a lemonade stand recently and donated half of their proceeds to the Warren Public Library.

The children chose the library because it “has been a huge part of our lives since the kids were little. The library created this safe space for our kids to learn, grow, and establish a relationship with the magical world of books. Reading has instilled a love of learning and continues to help our kids learn lessons about friendships, love, and family. We believe libraries are truly the best place and want to continue to support their efforts,” said Olivia Zawacki, the mother of Ashlynn and Aiden.

The Zawackis are also selling gently used items and donating the proceeds to raise mental health awareness in the community.

Zawacki lost her brother, Mitch, when he died by suicide in 2014 at the age of 27.

“My goal since his passing has been to help end the stigma around mental health and to advocate and spread awareness about mental health issues,” said Zawacki.
