Craft Your Fresh Holiday Decoration at Audubon Saturday, December 3

Submitted Photo Choose the morning or afternoon opportunity on Saturday, December 3, to make a holiday decoration with natural greens at Audubon Community Nature Center.

The public is invited to celebrate the winter season by using nature in its holiday decor or gift-giving.

Audubon Community Nature Center (ACNC) is offering Decorating with Greens to make a small wreath, table decoration, or swag with beautiful natural greens. Workshop times are 10:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3.

Create something of one’s own design and take home a unique homemade holiday decoration. Examples of decorations will be provided. Directions, cut greens and other materials will be on hand to make one-of-a-kind pieces suited to one’s particular taste.

Those attending are encouraged to bring additional decorations or supplies such as small wreath frames, ribbon, wire and pruners to aid in making their creation. Twelve-inch wire wreath frames are available for an additional $3 at the nature center.

All ages are welcome, though small children will need assistance. The program fee is $16 for adults, $12 for Nature Center members and children 3-15, and free for those two and under.

Paid reservations are required by Friday, Dec. 2, by calling 716-569-2345 during business hours or going to AudubonCNC.org and clicking through “Programs and Events.” Walk-ins may be accepted if there is room. Call for availability after the deadline at 716-569-2345.

The Audubon Community Nature Center is located at 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown and Warren. Visit the nearly 600-acre nature preserve, check in on the live birds of prey, and hike, snowshoe or cross country ski over five miles of trails dawn until dusk daily for free.

The three-story Nature Center building houses interactive displays, a collection of live animals including the Hellbender exhibit, and the Blue Heron Gift Shop. Visitors are welcome Mondays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sundays, 1 to 4:30 p.m. Nature Center members and SNAP/EBT cardholders have free building admission daily. Building admission is also free every Sunday for non-Nature Center members.
