Community garden plots are available
For Warren County residents who would like to do some gardening, but don’t have the yard for it, Warren County Conservation District has the answer.
For $25, residents can toil to their hearts’ content on 25-by-25 foot plots of land off of Hatch Run, just east of Conewango Avenue.
“If you would like to plant a garden and just don’t have the space in your yard, or if you would like to plant a garden and just don’t have a yard; this is the opportunity for you,” according to a release from Watershed Specialist Jean Gomory.
“The gardens serve as a place for families to have a garden of their own,” Gomory said. “This is an excellent opportunity to get your children involved in the outdoors, get your hands dirty, and grow some of your own produce.”
“We assign plots on a first-come first-served basis with previous renters getting first choice of plot location,” she said.
The $25 charge helps offset the costs of materials for layout and preparation of the garden plots.
Rain barrels are located at the gardens, but there is no guarantee water will be available at any given time.
