The Roger Tory Peterson Institute is launching a six-week series of beginning watercolor workshops led by local artist Robin Zefers Clark.

The workshops will take place on six consecutive Saturdays between Sept. 12 and Oct. 17 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and culminate in a month-long exhibition of the student’s work at RTPI.

Original Roger Tory Peterson botanical art from The Peterson Collection along with live and preserved plant specimens will be used to inspire students’ work.

“Creating art within the walls of the Roger Tory Peterson Institute is a wonderful experience,” Clark said. “The resources for reference are close at hand and the galleries provide unlimited inspiration.”

The class costs $100, which includes supplies, instruction and an artist’s reception at the end of the program period. Pre-registration and a $25 deposit is required. Space is limited. Register by Sept. 4 by calling 665-2473, ext. 227, or emailing ahudson@rtpi.org.

Clark holds a bachelor’s degree in art education from Buffalo State College.

She received her Masters of Science degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology, with a major in oil painting and intensive work in graphic design and photographic studies.

Clark has had several solo and group exhibitions and has been featured in articles in Country Woman Magazine, The Buffalo News and Focus.

Her work has won numerous awards and is featured in private collections throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia.

Clark lives in the Allegany mountains of Western New York, where she owns and operates Brookside Studio. For more information, visit website at brooksidestudio.com.
