Basketball tryoutsThe Warren Area Bombers 3rd-and-4th-grade elite travel boys basketball team will be holding tryouts from 6-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at Youngsville Elementary Middle School. The Bombers were 13-2 with a competitive schedule in 2014, and hold challenging practices - stressing fundamentals and dedication to team play - before and during the season, for boys currently in grades three and four in Warren County. Junior high basketballEisenhower Blue earned a 29-14 win over Tidioute in junior high girls basketball action Saturday.Leading Ike were Rachel Frederick and Alexis Courtney with eight points each, Emily Wheeler with six, Allie Mineweaser with four, Leah Peterson with two and Shelby Kuzminski with one.For Tidioute, Nikiesh Crouse had 10 points, while Kelsey Nuttal and Paige Zofzin added two each.For Beaty's 8th grade team, Alyssa Schooler had six points in their 27-23 win over Titusville. Beaty hoops triumphsBeaty outlasted Titusville 27-23 in 8th grade girls basketball action. Grace Wortman led the way with seven points, while Morgan Munksgard had six, Taylor Childress and Aubrianna Navaroli three and Jessica Susz two.With the win, Beaty is now 9-5.A short-handed 7th grade Beaty girls basketball team defeated Titusville 34-20 yesterday. Kelsey Stuart scored a game-high 21 points, and Faith Cruz added eight, while Sarah Satcho added four and Corinne Gern included a free throw to round out the scoring.
