Fighting words Dear Editor, The 250th United States Army anniversary parade in Washington, D.C., is history. President Donald J. Trump, a convicted felon, should have excused himself from attending except for the fact that it was important for him to celebrate his birthday in front of the troops. Actions and words Dear Editor, You learn a lot running a business with employees. Contrary to what College Business courses teach, I never followed the “pay yourself first” philosophy. I never took a paycheck. I got what was left over. My employees were paid first. Payroll — and taxes. Each quarter after I wrote payroll tax checks I would go out and tell my employees, “Well, your payroll taxes are paid.” Nobody said a word. Didn’t look up. Didn’t seem to care. Pumped up prices Dear Editor, I was in Erie last week, gas was less than $3.19 per gallon at most stations. Jamestown is $3.39 and Warren is $3.69. What a ridiculous difference. Promising path Dear Editor, It’s sadly amazing that foreign criminals and corrupt judges can become folk heroes to some. Kilmar Abrego Garcia is a Salvadoran national, falsely labeled a “Maryland man” by his defenders. His wife filed two restraining orders against him for physical violence against her and his stepchildren. He was stopped by Tennessee police for speeding and an expired license. Police noted he had at least six passengers, all without luggage.This seemed strange for a drive from Texas to Maryland. “Human trafficking” was suspected, but not charged. Garcia ...
