Losing our religion

Dear Editor, As one ages, they gain the opportunity to look back and see how the effects of world events, politics, elections and court rulings have influenced us. I was born at the end of World War II to parents of the “Greatest Generation” to quote Tom Brokaw. In 1963 there were two major events, I graduated high school and the Supreme Court threw God out of the public schools. Innocent are suffering

Dear Editor, From the womb to the tomb and points in between, the policies in this administration are killing innocent people throughout this country. In the past few years we have been made aware of their underhanded tactics to win elections. It appears there is nothing too unscrupulous to facilitate in order to come out on top. Gains become losses

Dear Editor, If you have one, are you watching your 401k accounts ? I’m watching mine and the current administration has already taken – in office for only 16 months – 49% of my 401k gains under President Donald Trump’s four years in office. Come on man, get him and his squad out. Surely, you’re not totally blind to what he’s doing to you and the country — to say nothing about inflation and your gas and food costs. Rebuild our faith

Dear Editor, Our schools, sports, and local businesses are open and functioning following the closures and barriers of COVID. We now need to be mindful of our churches and places of worship. Virtual services will continue to serve our area, but we need believers to return to in-person worship and fellowship. Our dedicated clergy, our Sunday school classrooms, and our nurseries are waiting for our return. Let’s encourage our families and neighbors to choose around the Easter season to once again gather together. We need to rebuild our faith community — a vital contributing part ...

Dear Editor, In response to the April 7 Times Observer article, “Statue proposal receives frosty reception,” the foolishness of revisionist history could use an explanation. The article noted “Washington’s history as a slave owner” as a reason not to erect a statue of him. Washington was a slave owner as were a huge number of persons worldwide. Washington became uneasy owning slaves, and his actions may have been the beginning of the end of slavery in the U.S. He was a leader in the emancipation of his personal slaves.
