Beating ourselves

Dear Editor, In the 1960s, Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev said he would destroy America without an invasion. Today, however, we are being destroyed financially with all the foreign products being sold in the USA. Eight out of ten vehicles are foreign. That is a sad statistic for America. Honda and Toyota and others are building here. That does not benefit the USA one bit. They own the round the factories are built on and their profits go back overseas. A mixed message

Dear Editor, The Small Business Administration provides data on lender-approved loans under the Paycheck Protection Program. The data includes names of the individuals and business’s who have received loans, the amount of the loan, and the date forgiven, if applicable. A review of the SBA site reveals that a local construction company received more than $1 million in hefty program payments — more than enough cash to buy his electronic sign to blame President Biden for inflation and the world’s problems. Drawing the lines Dear Editor, This is in regard to Main Avenue heading to Pleasant Township. I called PennDOT last year about re-painting the lines and/or arrows on Main Avenue, the part that is over the tracks and on the highway and bridge. The lines have never been re-painted — they are fading and can barely be seen in the daytime, but especially at night. If there is fog, the lines are not visible. I hope the good people who are to take care of Main Avenue can get this done before winter. Thank you for your assistance. Mary Leo, Pleasant Township

Dear Editor, My friend, Jimmy D, is an emotional guy. His wife is from Czechoslovakia. Her family had personal experience with German and Russian atrocities in World War II. No surprise they visited Auschwitz on a European trip. Some 1.1 million people died there. They weren’t alone. The museum draws many visitors, including students from Germany. Jimmy, of course, struck up a conversation. The students told him study of the Holocaust and German atrocities in World War II is mandatory.
