Warren County to host Corry in girls wrestling tonight
The Warren County girls wrestling team will be hosting its first-ever standalone dual meet this evening as they take on the Corry Beavers, slated for a 6 p.m. start at Warren Area High School.
This is technically the second home meet for the girls, as last year they piggy-backed with the boys wrestling team on the same night.
The girls, as well as the coaches, are looking forward to the contest, as it is more than just a regular wrestling match. It is a testament of the progress this program has made over the last couple of years with head coach Glenn Baldensperger at the helm. Also helping to coach the team are Paul Waite, Steve Siliano, Keith Kophazy and Jimmy Wiles. Each of these coaches “… all bring different strengths to the program,” said Coach Baldensperger.
The Beavers recently earned a second-place team finish at the North Allegheny Duals, and are hoping to perform well on the mat. The Dragons currently have 22 high school girls and eight middle-schoolers on the continuously growing team.
“I am hoping to see great support from the Warren County community,” Baldensperger added. “The girls are excited and nervous, but they will be ready to compete.”
