INDIANA — The Eisenhower Knights had two wrestlers place in the top 3 of their weight class at the Bo Wood wrestling tournament in Indiana, Pa. on Saturday.
Freshman Derek Havers finished second by winning back-to-back matches in double overtime to reach the finals at 172 pounds. Senior Bryceton Wilkins finished third at 189, also winning in overtime. Wilkins wrestled well on the day with three pins and a decision
“Both Wilkins and Havers continue to show improvement every week,” Eisenhower head coach Jared Lindell said. “They are wrestling well right now.”
The Knights finished ninth out of 21 teams and Lindell was happy with his team’s effort.
“Lane Morrison and Wes Wilcox both wrestled tough,” Lindell added. “But we are a young team and we have a lot of maturing on the mat to do. There are moments that we look great and others where our inexperience shows. The boys are working hard and getting better.”
The Knights are back on the mat on Wednesday against Cranberry.
