Warren shuts out Franklin 9-0 on Senior Night

The Warren boys soccer team hosted Franklin on Wednesday evening and blanked the Knights 9-0 at War Memorial Field.

The Dragons continued their hot streak on Senior Night as they celebrated seniors Quinn Norris, Luc Wilkins, Wyatt Kittell, Josh Westover, Isaac Hammerbeck, Cole English and Adon Maier.

“It was a great night to celebrate a special senior class,” Dragon head coach Steffen Blair said. “This group has been incredibly dedicated and motivated from day one. They’ve set a strong example with how they work and compete, and their impact on the program will be felt for a long time.”

Dragon goal scorers were Jack Chapman with four, and one each from Quinn Norris, Gabe Dougherty, Isaac Hammerbeck, Luc Wilkins and Wyatt Kittell. Assists were by Norris with three, and Chapman, Trey Carrington and Mason Warner with one apiece.Steals leaders were Norris with 20, Wilkins with 16 and Cole English with 11.

Maier recorded three saves in net.

“It was great,” Hammerbeck commented on his Senior Night goal and what it meant. “I’m definitely not going to forget this anytime soon. Warren soccer has had some great memories for me, including driving the boys to and from practice and getting hyped before the games together. It was also great to see my teammate, Wyatt Kittell, get his first-ever goal tonight.”

The junior varsity squad won 3-0 with goals coming from Grant Newton, Bentley Sherry and James Chapman.

Warren will be back in action at 10 a.m. Saturday when it hosts the Girard Yellow Jackets at War Memorial Field.
