The Warren boys soccer team hosted Bradford on Tuesday and defeated the Owls by a convincing 8-3 margin, but it wasn’t convincing, however, until about eight minutes into the second half.
The beautiful fall evening at War Memorial Field kicked off with the high school marching band playing the national anthem, then Jack Chapman started off his six-goal night just five minutes into the game to give the Dragons a 1-0 lead.
Mason Warner scored just 17 seconds later when he buried a left footer into the corner of the goal to go up 2-0. Chapman’s second goal came off a perfect through ball from Quinn Norris just 10 minutes into the game.
Bradford retaliated not once, not twice, but three times. Two of its goals came in the first half, and they quickly scored just after the second half began. With a tied match, this was all the Owls could muster as the Dragons rattled off five goals in a row. Chapman secured his hat trick off another through ball from Norris.
Next to score was Norris off a direct free kick when Gabe Dougherty was tripped just outside the box. Norris’ free kick was perfectly placed in the bottom right corner of the goal. It was all Chapman for the rest of the evening, as he scored his second hat trick of the night in a span of 4 1/2 minutes.

The game also featured sophomore goalkeeper Aidan Sweet notching his first varsity start and win of his career. Sweet made many great saves during the contest including multiple one-on-one stops.
“Scoring my career high goals tonight was an awesome feeling,” Chapman said. “It really helped the team’s momentum as we were able to keep the energy up all around the field. This win also feels great to bounce back after the tough loss to Girard. Quinn (Norris) locked in and had some great assists. Heading into the playoffs, we need to keep this momentum going.”
Dragon assists were by Norris with four, and Gabe Dougherty, Chapman and Reilly Morgan one apiece. Steals leaders for the evening were Norris with 19, Luc Wilkins, Morgan and Trey Carrington with 11 apiece.
Warren returns to play at 7 p.m. today when it entertains Dubois at War Memorial Field.
