Eisenhower girls 12th, boys 16th at Rocket Invitational

TITUSVILLE — The Eisenhower Knights cross country team competed at the Rocket Invitational last Saturday at the Ed Myer Sports Complex.

The varsity girls squad finished 12th overall and was paced by a time of 21:36 from Laney Belcher, who finished 31st overall. Izzy Grosch was next (22:45), followed by Lainey Font (23:00), Callie Delp (24:40), Bryn Lindell (24:51), Haley Ferrie (25:29) and Addy Britt (27:20).

The boys varsity squad finished 17th overall led by Joseph Fanelli with a time of 18:27 that was good enough for 61st place. Parker McBride (18:31), Alex Lund (18:52), Mason Britt (19:01), Brice Ludwick (20:05), Carson Ferman (20:38) and Jonathan Bogniak (25:26) rounded out the lineup.

“The Titusville Rocket Invitational was a good start for the team,” Eisenhower head coach Darlene Beach said. “By the end of the third week, the kids are ready to race. The Titusville course is flat and fast, and many of the kids had improved times compared to a year ago running on this course.”

In junior high action, Josie Elms blazed the course with a time of 10:38 good enough for a 14th medal finish. Kaylee Ferino (11:25), Hanna Lund (12:24) and Naveen Mead (14:02) also ran for the Knights.

The junior high boys had two medal earners with Cameron Lindell running a 9:35 good enough for ninth place and Benny Matson finishing 21st with a time of 9:59. Dylan Shaffer ran an 11:07 and Zack Ayers was right behind with an 11:14.

TUESDAY

KNIGHTS SPLIT IN CORRY

CORRY — On Tuesday, the Eisenhower cross country squads traveled to Corry to take on the Beavers in a Region 4 meet.

The Knights secured the girls victory led by Laney Belcher, who was the top finisher with a time of 22:43. Izzy Grosch (24:25) and Lainey Font (24:47) earned third- and fourth-place finishes, respectively. Bryn Lindell (27:04), Callie Delp (27:40) and Haley Ferrie (28:26) were also big contributors to the victory. The Knights won by a score of 21 to Corry’s 37.

The Eisenhower boys varsity team fell to the Beavers by a score of 35 to Corry’s 22. Corry had the top three finishers with Eisenhower’s Joseph Fanelli being the Knights’ top finisher with a time of 19:37. Parker McBride (19:38), Alex Lund (20:16) and Mason Britt (21:41) finished fifth, sixth and eighth, respectively. Carson Ferman (23:45), Brice Ludwick (23:50) and Jonathan Bogniak (28:01) also ran for the Knights.

In junior high action, the Knights’ Josie Elms won the girls race with a time of 11:00. Kaylee Ferino (12:44), Hann Lund (13:44) and Naveen Mead (14:08) also contributed to the win.

The Eisenhower junior high boys saw Cameron Lindell finish second with a time of 10:17, Benny Matson running a 10:21, Zachary Ayers finishing with an 11:38 and Dylan Shaffer rounding out the Knights with a time of 11:42.
