Warren blanks Erie in tennis

ERIE — The Warren Dragons tennis team handled the Erie Royals in convincing 5-0 fashion to move to 3-1 overall on the season at Frontier Park.

At first singles, Lucy Harrison defeated Eliza Borczon 6-2, 6-1. At second singles, Alannah Garza defeated Shelby Britton 6-0, 6-0. Grace Carlson won at third singles 6-2, 6-0.

At first doubles, Sarah Harvey and Scotlynn Perry were 6-1, 6-2 winners. At second doubles, Brady Caudill and Olivia Romanosky were 6-0, 6-0 winners.

Lettie Christie and Carly Fitzsimmons were winners in jayvee play.

“This was another solid team win and our first clean sweep of the season. It was pretty windy today so we knew we had to play some high percentage tennis and the girls adjusted and kept their errors to a minimum,” said head coach Thomas Pellegrino.

“The wind was definitely a challenge today but we have a strong group of girls who know how to adapt and play to their strengths which helped us get the win,” Harvey said. “I was also impressed with how my partner Scotlynn stepped up for the team today playing in her first varsity match and helping secure a 1st doubles win for the team.”

Warren’s next match is Monday when it hosts Mercyhurst Prep.

Starting at $3.50/week.
