Tarp Skunks suffer first loss of season

BATAVIA, N.Y. — Jamestown scored its “ghost runner” in the top of the 10th inning, but Batavia scored twice off errors in the bottom of the 10th as the Muckdogs beat the Tarp Skunks 10-9 in Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League action at Dwyer Stadium on Sunday evening.

Jamestown led 1-0 in the top of the first inning, 3-2 in the top of the third and 8-7 in the top of the sixth, but was unable to hold any of its leads.

Seven pitchers took the mound for the Tarp Skunks, combining to strike out 14, but also walk eight batters.

Colin Bolla threw the first two innings, allowing no hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out four and walking three. Jase Rutkowski did not record an out while allowing five runs and three hits. Eddie Dolansky threw three scoreless innings, allowing two hits while striking out three. Jameson Walsh allowed one run while walking three and striking out two in his inning of work. Nick Ianniello threw two scoreless innings and struck out two. Anthony Serrano tossed a scoreless inning with three strikeouts while allowing a hit. Mark Holm took the loss, allowing one hit while issuing a pair of intentional walks. Neither run he allowed was earned.

Nolan Smith went 1 for 4 with three RBIs and a walk; Justin Bremner was 3 for 5 with two RBIs and three runs scored; Nathan Borchardt was 2 for 3; and Branston Lindquist tripled for Jamestown.

Jackson Inman singled and drove in three runs for the Muckdogs.

The Tarp Skunks, who suffered their first loss on the season, will host the Olean Oilers in an exhibition game Tuesday at Diethrick Park in Jamestown. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
