Area softball teams fall

WATERFORD — An eight-run third inning helped Fort LeBoeuf shut out Warren 15-0 on Thursday in a Region 6 softball game.

Freshmen Paige Shields and Kallie Stull and sophomore Mirabela Zaczyk had two hits each for Fort LeBoeuf, including a combined four extra-base hits. Zaczyk doubled and homered for the Bison (13-2 overall and 9-2 in the region). Every batter in the lineup reached base with Fort LeBoeuf’s eight hits, 11 walks, and three hit batters.

Peyton Hagg reached twice for Warren, including the Dragons only base hit.

Warren falls to 8-8 overall and 5-8 in Region 6 with its fourth straight loss.

EAGLES LOSE 7-0

YOUNGSVILLE — Youngsville collected six hits, but failed to push any runners across the plate during a 7-0 loss to Iroquois at Youngsville High School.

The Braves exploded out of the gates, scoring three runs in the opening inning and three more in the third inning to take a commanding 6-0 lead. Youngsville didn’t get its first hit until the bottom of the third when Paige Stover hit an infield single.

Iroquois would add a seventh run in the top of the fourth inning before the Eagles’ best chance at scoring came in the bottom of the fourth.

Hailey Gray, Ireland Abraham and Marli Rectenwald all hit singles to start the inning to load the bases with nobody out. However, Iroquois pitcher Phoenix Thomas got the next two batters to strike out and Alyssa Goss’ hard hit grounder was fielded nicely for the final out of the inning.

The Eagles would get the second hits of the game from both Stover and Abraham over the final three innings, but the 7-0 score would hold until the finish.

Youngsville is back in action today when it hosts Seneca in a region contest.

Starting at $3.50/week.
