Eisenhower suffers 14-1 baseball loss

RUSSELL — Eisenhower was in search of its first win of the young baseball season Thursday, but the Knights fell 14-1 to Titusville.

The Rockets (5-0) jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings, and pitcher Jimmy Becker held the knights hitless over three innings of work. Titusville added six runs in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach.

Eisenhower starting pitcher Joel Sorrel gave up four hits, five earned runs and one walk. Caleb Jakubczack led the Knights (0-2) at the plate, going 1 for 2.

Eisenhower head coach Alan Jackson knew it was going to be a tough game heading into it, “Joel Sorrell saw his first real game action on the mound,” Eisenhower head coach Alan Jackson said. “I thought he pitched well and Jarius Casey came on in relief and threw well also. I thought we hit the ball well, but (Titusville) made solid plays in the field. They are a good team and their undefeated record speaks for itself. Our defense had a couple of errors, but from our scrimmage to today, we are headed in the right direction. We just have to keep working. We are young and our players are learning while playing.”

The Knights are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Northwestern for a 4 p.m. game.

Starting at $3.50/week.
