Third time not the charm for Dragons

FRANKLIN — The third time wasn’t the charm for Warren’s boys soccer team.
After two overtime losses to Meadville during the regular season, the Bulldogs got an early goal against Warren and then three more in the second half for a 4-1 District 10 3A playoff win over the Dragons on Tuesday at Franklin High School.
After a 3-2 overtime loss at Meadville and a 1-0 double-overtime defeat to the Bulldogs at War Memorial Field, a neutral playoff site didn’t do the trick. Warren is eliminated at 10-8 overall and Meadville (14-5) advances to play General McLane for the D10 title.
“Consistency wins in this game and that’s just not something we were able to find enough of this season,” said Warren coach Steffen Blair, whose team will lose 10 seniors. “Despite struggling at times in possession, we were still able to take advantage of the wide areas and create a lot of good opportunities, especially in the first half. We just didn’t make the most of them.”
Trailing 4-0, Warren got on the board when Trey Carrington assisted Jack Chapman, but time ran out.
“We’re disappointed that this is how it ends for the seniors, but we can’t thank them enough for their dedication to the program and passion for a sport we all love,” said Blair.
