Dragons bounce back with 2-0 region win
FRANKLIN — After a tough 1-0 Region 5 loss to Erie earlier this week, Warren’s boys soccer team bounced back with a hard-fought 2-0 region win on Thursday over Franklin.
Tied 0-0 at the half, Finn Ordiway and Gabe Dougherty punched in second-half goals and Warren improves to 9-7 overall and 6-7 in the region. Franklin falls to 2-10-1 in Region 5.
“Each half felt like a different game,” said Warren coach Steffen Blair. “We were sloppy and disjointed in the first half, but we played some of our best soccer in the second. We struggled to finish, but we controlled the game and created a lot of great chances.
“Finn played with an extra level of energy and confidence tonight and was huge for us at the top of the field,” added Blair. “Timmy (Giger) and Gabe were two of the best players on the field tonight. We’ve been so impressed by their growth, and for them to be having this level of impact as freshmen is special.”
Ordiway and Dougherty also added assists, and Ordiway led Warren with 15 steals.
