BRADFORD — New York scored on three straight second-quarter drives and controlled Pennsylvania, 39-18, on Saturday at Parkway Field for its first Big 30 All-Star Charities Classic win since 2015.

After six losses and a tie against PA, New York built a 21-10 halftime lead and added on in the third quarter.

New York blocked punts on Pennsylvania’s first two possessions of the second half. NY quarterback Michael Frederick had an 8-yard touchdown run taken off the board after one of the blocked punts (Devin Bish), but kicker Gabe Kempf blasted a 40-yard field goal into the dusk for a 24-10 NY lead.

Frederick wound up getting his rushing touchdown after the next New York blocked punt (Nate Bull), and New York upped its lead to 31-10 late in the third quarter.

Frederick took on the bulk of quarterback duties after Jameson Walsh was banged up on a long scramble in the first half. A three-year starter at Allegany-Limestone, Frederick was under center for 67 of New York’s 78 offensive plays and led five scoring drives in nine possessions.

Frederick finished with 123 yards passing, including a second-quarter touchdown to Salamanca standout and Alfred University’s Carmine Hoag, and a third-quarter rushing score. Frederick’s two-point conversion after Dalton Giboo’s 1-yard plunge at 4:50 of the fourth quarter put the game away.

Frederick had 52 yards rushing and New York out-gained Pennsylvania 292-114 on the ground.

Portville’s Kaeden Holcomb had 110 yards and a touchdown on 24 totes to lead the charge. Giboo carried 11 times for 77 yards and two scores as well.

Trailing 21-3, Matthew Davis’ 4-yard plunge right before halftime brought PA back to within two scores.

With Pennsylvania trailing 31-10 late in the third quarter, Eisenhower’s Shawn Pascuzzi connected with Ike receiver Camron Jakubczak on an 18-yard touchdown pass in the front-left corner of the end zone. He also hit Bradford’s Matt Perry on the two-point conversion to pull PA to within 13 at 31-18.

New York held PA to just two offensive plays over 10 yards in the second half, and had an interception in each half (Joshua Auman and Lane Dziekonski, respectively); one led to a second-quarter touchdown and one ended the game.

Frederick completed a fourth-down-and-11 pass to Hoag in the final quarter that kept PA’s offense off the field and led to Giboo’s second touchdown.
