JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Jamestown has scored a total of four runs in its past three games. All it has to show for it is two losses and a tie.
The Tarp Skunks’ offensive struggles continued Thursday night as they manged eight hits, but left 10 runners on base on their way to a 3-2 setback to Batavia in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League game at Diethrick Park.
Rijnaldo Euson scattered five hits, struck out eight and walked three in five innings of work to earn his first win of the season for the Muckdogs (4-3). Four pitchers combined to hurl the final four innings with Trey Bacon recording his third save.
Giuseppe Arcuri and Lucas Lopez led the offensive attack for Batavia with two hits apiece; Josh Leadem, Adam Agresti and Sean Ladd drove in one run each; and Anthony Calabro smacked a double.
For Jamestown (5-3-1), Grady Mee, who entered the game tied for the league batting lead with a .481 average, Zack Kent and Colin Houck each had two hits. Will Saxenmeyer started on the mound; and losing pitcher, Warren’s Ryan Rafalski, who worked 3 2/3 innings, and Tony DeLawrence came on in relief.
The Muckdogs scored a run in the second, fifth and sixth innings. The Tarp Skunks countered with runs in the third and seventh.
Jamestown closes out its three-game homestand today when it takes on Elmira at 6:30 p.m.
