The Jamestown and Area Old Timers Baseball Club will play its home opener at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at its home field, Russell Diethrick Park in Jamestown, N.Y.

The 46-and-over baseball team plays in a league based in Youngstown, Ohio, and includes players from Warren County, Chautauqua County (N.Y.), and surrounding areas.

After a series of road trips, the Old Timers are off to a 1-4 start, including a loss last Sunday in a nine-inning game against the newly formed North Hills (Pittsburgh) team.

Wade Nelson belted a home run, and Ron Thomas, Winston Woodard and Troy Johnson each had a double for the Old Timers.

LAKEWOOD, N.Y. — Tim Sandberg scored a gross 37 and Al Kuzminski scored a low net 33 to lead the Youngsville Senior Golf League at Maplehurst Country Club.

Second place gross was shot by Kuzminski and Jon Steffan with a 40, John Blum fired a 41 for third.

Second place net score was by Jim California and Art Luther with 34, Dan Steffan had a 35 for third.

Fred Carder scored two birdies; while Blum, California, Gary Chuzie, Bill Kulinski, Don Melson and Steffan had one birdie.

Closest to the pin was Dick Tyler on No. 7.

RUSSELL — Jon Vincent and Bill Petransky both shot a 39 for low gross and Jim Ferrick recorded the low net with 34 to lead the Friday Senior Men’s League at Cable Hollow Golf Course.

Other results included: Gary Redick, 9.5 points; Pete Hofert and Dan Hoden, two biridies; John DeAngelo, Gary Pudliewski, Vincent, Ralph Keniston and Dan Matteson, one birdie; Petransky, seven pars; and Jerry Abbey, season’s top points leader, 37.5.
