Warren track brings home hardware from Brookville invite

BROOKVILLE — Warren’s track and field teams had “a great day” on Saturday at the 25th Demans Team Sports Brookville Invitational at Brookville High School, according to head coach Kevin Dustin.
“The kids took home plenty of hardware and personal or season bests,” said Dustin. “We were really proud of how the team competed and it’s great to see everyone improving and heading in the right direction.”
For the Lady Dragons, Lilly Newton won the 400-meter dash in 1:00.64 seconds, edging Redbank Valley’s Mylee Harmon, who was timed in 1:00.66. Warren’s Gracie Gatto was 19th out of 27.
Lindsay Madigan finished fourth and Maddie Nosel ninth out of 36 sprinters in the 100-meter dash. Nosel was fifth and Evelyn Egner 14th out of 32 in the 200.
Shyann Rulander and Morgan Alexander were second and third, respectively, among 29 runners in the 1,600 at 5:49.02 and 5:50.39. They were also second and third out of 22 in the 3,200 in 12:39.31 and 12:47.65.
Teammate Kaelin Hatfield finished 11th of 25 in the 800. Ellie Yeager was 19th and Egner 25th in the 100 hurdles preliminaries. Egner added a 13-place finish in the 300 low hurdles.
Warren’s 4X100 relay team of Newton, Nosel, Laney Gatto, and Gracie Gatto topped 11 other teams to win in 52.19 seconds, and the 4X400 relay finished second.
Newton’s 4-9 high jumped tied for third, Laney Gatto’s 8-0 pole vault was second, and Madigan’s 15-1 long jump was third out of 32. Madigan also finished eighth in the triple jump, and Jenna Kophazy was 25th.
Aurora Feaster and Katrina Seamens were 15th and 26th, respectively, in shot.
Grace Carr and Kophazy were 13th and 16th, respectively, out of 32 in javelin.
For the Dragon boys, Parker Shene was eighth of 36 in the 100 prelims in 11.8 seconds, and Jeremiah Richardson finished 23rd. Shene was 10th in the finals in 11.71.
Richardson finished 13th out of 33 in the 200, and Cam Williams was 26th in both the 200 and 400 events.
Corban Reinard was seventh out of 26 in the 800, and Sam Lindell and Matt Sowa sixth and 12th in both the 1,600 and 3,200 races.
Ethan Best finished fourth out of 26 in the 110 hurdles preliminaries in 16.96 seconds, and second in the finals in 16.19. He was also second out of 21 in the 300 hurdles in 43.57 seconds.
Parker Anderson was 14th in shot, and 12th in discus. Lucas Douvlos finished 21st out of 33 in javelin.
“We have a really good idea of where our strengths lay and we’re looking to continue to develop throughout the rest of the regular season to accomplish some great things in the region and at districts,” said Dustin.
