Lady Dragons drop second in two days

A day after a 6-5 walk-off loss at second-place Conneaut, Warren’s softball team fell, 14-2 in six innings, on Thursday to visiting Meadville.

Lilly Devore started in the circle in place of injured pitcher Alana Stuart.

“Lily pitched great,” said Warren coach Carissa Stuart. “She went the distance, (and) did her job throwing strikes. Natasha (Ferry, entering the lineup) played well, made a nice catch, and worked a walk to get on base and score.”

Carly Beers finished with two hits for Warren, but Meadville senior pitcher Katie Say allowed just one more hit, a double to Lexi Hoffman.

Meadville’s Kendall Mealy had four of the Bulldogs’ 15 hits. She tripled and Nevaeh Baker homered in a five-run second inning.

Warren is 4-7 overall and 3-5 in Region 5. Meadville improves to 8-4 and 4-4, respectively.

Meadville won the junior varsity game, 9-0.

Starting at $3.50/week.
