Beaty’s eighth-grade team ended its season on March 18 by taking second place at the 12-team Maplewood tournament.

Beaty won its morning pool, going 5-1 in pool play with wins over JS Wilson, 25-8, 25-10; Saegertown, 25-12, 25-16; and splitting with Maplewood, 25-18, 22-25.

In bracket play, Beaty defeated Walnut Creek, 25-13, in the quarterfinals and Corry, 25-21, in the semifinals before falling to Fort LeBoeuf, 23-25, in the tournament finals

Statistics for the day included: Paiden Johnson, 11 aces, 12 kills, 10 digs; Julia Getner, 12 kills, two blocks, two digs; Brooke Sherry, four aces, 10 kills, 10 digs, three assists; Maggie Bennett, seven aces, 10 kills, two digs; Attie Corey, five aces, eight kills; Malysia Sorensen, six aces, 26 digs, three assists; Addison Ristau, five aces, two kills, four digs, six assists; Violet Brooker, one ace, one kill, four digs; Peyton Cabisca, eight aces, 15 assists, six digs; and Brynn Norris, seven aces, seven digs, 17 assists.

The eighth-grade team finished its season with a record of 12-1-1 and the seventh-grade team finished with an 11-3 record.

Bowling

Ron Jameson’s 217-597 topped the Brokenstraw Couples League at Valley Bowling Center.

Other series were Marc Lobdell 227-588, Austin Fitzgereald 212-582, Jean Olsen 215-528, Lori Gustafson 190-501 and Pam Jameson 188-460.
