Opening day for Eisenhower baseball against Cochranton

The Eisenhower Knights start their season today at 4 p.m. when they welcome the Cochranton Cardinals to Werner Field in Russell.

Head Coach Clint Corse and Assistant Coach Derek Jensen have high hopes for the Knights this season after struggling through last season and finishing with a 1-15 record.

The Knights lost only two players to graduation, Cole Chapman and Zach Jerman and started a roster made up of inexperienced and young players a year ago.

With a year of experience and their roster mostly intact the Knights lineup was also bolstered by the return of two players who took last year off, Kael Hunt and Conner Younger both return as seniors who have experience. Also, expecting to make a big impact in return are seniors Garrett Jensen, Spencer Wynn and Brok English.

Underclassmen coming back are juniors Cameron Jakubczack, Cole Kellogg, Shawn Pascussi, Derek Childs and John Palmieri. New players looking to step up and contribute are juniors Aaden Nichols and Lex Leamon, sophomore Griffin Williams, and freshmen Caleb Jakubczack and Michael Mizner.
