RUSSELL — The Eisenhower Knights left no doubt who the best wrestling team in the county was this season Tuesday.
After defeating both Warren and Sheffield earlier this winter, the only team left was Youngsville. The Knights put on a pin clinic as every match wrestled was won by pin for Eisenhower in a 66-12 defeat of the Eagles.
The varsity match started at 189 pounds where the Knights’ Benji Bauer made quick work of the Eagles’ Graeme Minnis at the 1:06 mark of the opening period.
Brok English earned a first-period pin as well against Connor Minnis. Eisenhower’s Mike Vanatta (285 pounds), Shawn Miller (107 pounds) and Griffen Williams (114 pounds) all took forfeits to put the Knights up 30-0.
At 136 pounds, Ryan Chambers got a first-period pin over James Johnson to put Eisenhower up 36-0 before the Eagles got on the board when Ian Mancuso took a forfeit at 152 pounds.

Cole Kellogg
The Knights’ Tanner Lookenhouse got a first-period pin against Michael Carnahan before teammate Derek Childs caught Youngsville’s Owen Auflick with a second-period pin at 139 pounds. At 145 pounds, Eisenhower’s Cole Kellogg pinned Gavin Olson 47 seconds into the second period.
At 152 pounds, the Eagles’ Aiden Turner took a forfeit. Then, it was the Knights’ Tucker Lindell who pinned Griffen Daley in the second period at 160 pounds. Teammate Bryceton Wilkins closed out the scoring for the Knights when he pinned Gavin Bundy at the 26-second mark of the first period.
The only jayvee match of the evening featured Eisenhower’s Conner Young pinning Logan Dougherty 24 seconds into the first period at 215 pounds.
“The boys wrestled well. With this rivalry with Youngsville, they were very determined tonight,” Eisenhower head coach Jared Lindell said. “Conner started us off and the boys took it from there. It was a good set up for us as we now enter the postseason.”
