LINESVILLE — Warren’s girls basketball team stayed unbeaten in Region 5 on Monday with a tough 57-41 win at Conneaut.

“Big one,” said Warren coach Lisa LaVan, whose Dragons improve to 11-6 overall and 5-0 in the region. Conneaut is 3-2 in Region 5 with the loss.

“It was a very physical game and our girls did not back down,” said LaVan. “We just pushed right back at them. Executed great on offense.”

Alana Stuart and Halle Kuzminski scored 5 points apiece in Warren’s 15-8 first quarter. Stuart hit her first of three 3-pointers in the game to help build a lead.

Warren led 24-22 at halftime, but Stuart connected on her other two 3-pointers and Sammie Ruhlman added another to build a 10-point lead entering the fourth quarter.

With Conneaut was forced to foul, Sammie Ruhlman sank all six of her fourth-quarter free throws to help put it away. In fact, the Lady Dragons were 19 of 23 at the line on the night with Gracie Ruhlman sinking five free throws. Stuart and Kuzminski hit four apiece in the game.

“Unbelievable rebounding by the whole team,” said LaVan. “We got after it. Alyssa (Farr), ‘Stu,’ and Gracie were big-time on the boards tonight.”

Stuart finished with 15 points, Kuzminski 14 and Sammie Ruhlman 13 in the win.

“I am so proud of this team for how far they have come,” said LaVan. “Thursday is a huge game for us (versus Franklin at home), and I hope our community comes out to support.”
