Tarp Skunks win big on Sunday

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — The Jamestown Tarp Skunks struggled to get around the bases on Saturday, but they figured it out on the road against the Niagara Power on Sunday at Sal Maglie Stadium in Niagara Falls. Jamestown bested its total of runs on Saturday in the first inning and it didn’t stop there, putting up 20 against Niagara for an early finish in the seventh, winning 20-4.

Seven different Tarp Skunks scored multiple runs, Mark Tucker led the way with four, Hector Martinez and Julian Thompson scored three times each and Dan Maglio, Jordan King, Cody Bey and Pat Bigham reached homeplate twice apiece.

Will Dorell and Martinez came up big with three RBI’s each, Brandon Lane, Tucker, Bey and King all hit two RBI’s; and extra base hits came from Lane, Bey and Thompson, all of which were doubles.

The Jamestown pitching did its job with Pat Demarco picking up the win after 5 1/3 innings pitched with four strikeouts. Bigham finished the game on the mound allowing no base runners from Niagara.

Niagara’s top hitter was Ben Sinins with two doubles and an RBI, Jadyn Lobliner knocked in two RBI’s and Ian Evans was the Niagara pitcher who took the loss.

Jamestown is back in action tonight at 6:30 when it hosts the Geneva Red Wings at Diethrick Park.
