Area athletes named to Region All-Star teams

Two Eisenhower baseball players and two Knights softball players received all-star recognition recently.
Cole Chapman and Brok English were both named to the Region 3 baseball First Team.
Chapman, a senior second baseman, hit .325 with a .900 fielding percentage while English, a junior designated hitter, hit .356 with an on-base percentage of .442.
Saegertown junior shortstop/pitcher Henry Shaffer was named the Region 3 Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year.
Other members of the region’s First Team were: Cambridge Springs senior catcher Brock Cunningham, Saegertown senior first baseman Landon Caldwell, Rocky Grove senior first baseman Reece Henderson, Rocky Grove senior third baseman Trevor Hamilton, Rocky Grove senior outfielders Aaron Burkhardt and Michael Shields, Saegertown senior outfielder Dustin Nearhoof, Cambridge Springs junior outfielder Brady Jardina, Sagertown senior utilityman Zach Balog, Cochranton senior pitcher Wyatt Barzak and Rocky Grove senior pitcher Eli Moreland.

Kailee Morrison and Tracey Jakubczak were both named to the Region 2 softball Second Team.
Morrison was the Knights junior first baseman.
“She is one of our leaders and kept her positive attitude all season,” Eisenhower head coach Rich Pascuzzi said. “She is a hard worker and made some incredible stops at first base for us.”
Jakubczak was Eisenhower’s freshman second baseman.
“Tracey worked really hard to earn a starting spot as a freshman,” Pascuzzi said. “She is very athletic and she has great range whatever position she is playing. We look forward to watching her play the next three seasons.

Youngsville sophomore outfielder Matthew DeSimone was named to the Region 3 baseball Second Team. He was the lone member of the Eagles honored.
Union City junior third baseman Lucy Higley was named the Region 2 Player of the Year and her senior teammate Abby Tingley was named the region’s Pitcher of the Year.
Other members of the region’s first team were: Cochranton senior catcher Chloa Lippert, Cochranton sophomore first baseman Brooklyn Needler, Saegertown senior first baseman Brittany Houck, Cochranton senior second baseman Carly Richter, Saegertown sophomore second baseman Rhia Paris, Cambridge Springs senior third baseman Aly Acosta Reyes, Cochranton senior shortstop Jaylin McGill, Cochranton senior outfielder Kaylin Rose, Union City senior outfielder Kam Gates-Bowersox, Cambridge Springs junior outfielder Emily Boylan, Cambridge Springs junior designated player Cheyenne Mosconi and Saegertown sophomore pitcher Mikaila Obenrader.
