SHEFFIELD — Eisenhower and Youngsville hit the road Thursday for a cross-county tri-meet at Sheffield, where the Knights girls’ varsity was able to defeat both the Eagles (74.5-61.5) and the Wolverines (84-53) in head-to-head matchups, while Youngsville edged Sheffield (71-68).
On the boys side, the Knights knocked off the Eagles (72-64), but it was the Wolverines that got the sweep over both visiting schools, defeating Youngsville (96-45) and Eisenhower (80-61).
Keegan Eckstrom and Talon Mesel finished the 100 meters neck and neck (11.99), but it was Landon Mead who got the win in 11.78. Mead also claimed the 400 meters (59.26) later in the meet. Eckstrom would go on to pull off a win in the 200 meters, finishing just .24 seconds ahead of Mead with a 24.55 time.
Sheffield dominated the distance events, with Alex Eaton winning both the 1,600 meters (5:38.6) and 3,200 meters (12:35.3), and Dylan Hardwick taking the 800 meters (2:26.2).
The pair were joined by Chase Kyler and Syncere Money to win the 3,200-meter relay (9:57.1).

Youngsville’s Blake Myers swept the jumping events, recording a long jump of 18-6.5, triple jump of 40-0, and high jump of 6-2. Koby Hedrickson recorded the Eagles’ only win in the running events, with a victory in the 110-meter hurdles (18.11). The Sheffield boys improved to 11-2 on their senior night.
The Eagles’ Angelina Sabella took the 100 meters (13.49) and the 200 meters (29.21), the Wolverines’ Lily Benton won both the 110-meter hurdles (19.43) and 300-meter hurdles (57.2), and the Knights’ Mackenzie Dunn won the shot put (31-4) and discus (82-0) in what would be a very competitive matchup all evening between the three county rivals. The Wolverines dominated the jumping events, as Emily Foster jumped 5-0 to win the high jump, and teammate Alexis Goldthwaite grabbed wins in both the long (13-6) and triple jump (29-5).
Eisenhower posted wins in all three relays. Gracie Anthony, Sydney Cronmiller, Esther Reagle and Madison Cathcart ran a 13:14.2 in the 3,200-meter relay. Reagle and Cathcart were joined by Dunn and Izzy Grosch to take the 1,600-meter relay (5:07.5). Dunn also competed as part of the 400-meter relay with Katie Bunk, Gracie Tomassoni, and Thursday’s javelin winner, Rayna Hultman.
