Lady Dragons softball claims another victory

MEADVILLE — Freshman starting pitcher Alana Stuart threw her second 1-hitter in two days, and Warren 10-runned host Meadville 11-1 on Tuesday.

That sets up a showdown today against visiting Conneaut. Warren is 9-2 in Region 5 and Conneaut (7-2) and Villa Maria (8-2) stand with two region losses each in region play.

“It was nice to get a lead in the first inning and just keep building on it throughout the game and have some breathing room towards the end of the game,” said Warren coach Carissa Stuart. “Kylie Fehlman, Carly Beers, and Miken Beers came up clutch tonight. Our entire lineup hit the ball and hit it hard as well. It was a great team effort.”

After Lexi Hoffman doubled in the top of the first inning, Alix Lytle’s two-out, two-run home run put Warren on the board. Consecutive two-out hits by Miken Beers, Katie Madigan and Hoffman made it 3-0 in the second.

Meadville (2-8) didn’t help itself, committing three errors in the fourth for two more Warren runs.

Alana Stuart was cruising. She didn’t allow a base hit until a one-out double in the sixth. She finished with 12 strikeouts and one unearned run. She also started off a five-run fifth with a solo home run and scored the 11th run in the sixth after starting with a single.

Madigan, Hoffman, Stuart, Carly Beers and Fehlman had two hits each in the 13-hit attack.

Starting at $4.00/week.
