Warren Area High School swimmers or divers were named Region 3 all-stars in no less than 10 events for the recently completed 2021-22 season.
The list includes first-team efforts for Dragon seniors Katie Beyer and Katie Madigan and sophomore Hugh Harrison.
At the District 10 2A championships, Madigan secured her second straight diving title, Beyer, the 2021 PIAA champion in the 200-yard freestyle, won her third straight D10 title in the event and her first 100 free title.
For the Dragon boys, Harrison repeated in the boys’ D10 3A 200 free and won the 100 backstroke, and the Warren 200 and 400 free relay teams brought home championships as well.
At states this year, Beyer earned a silver medal and bronze with two school records, Madigan a bronze in 2A diving, and Harrison had a couple more school records to boot.

This year’s swimmers and divers are littered on the WAHS records list.
And now on the D10 Region 3 all-star teams.
“Five first-team all-star events was a very good representation of how the swim season played out for the Warren Dragons,” said head coach Russ Beyer. “Katie Beyer in two events, 200 free and 100 free. Hugh Harrison in two events, 200 free and 100 back. Katie Madigan in diving. All three of these athletes placed in the top 16, respectfully, at the state meet. Katie Beyer, second in the 200 free and third in 100 free. Hugh Harrison, 13th in 200 IM and 10th in 100 back. Katie Madigan, third in diving.
“We also had five events for second-team all-stars,” said Coach Beyer. “Max Harrison in the 50 and 100 free. Derek Hahn in the 100 fly and two relays. The 200 and 400 free relays consisting of Max Harrison, Graham Carr, Derek Hahn, and Hugh Harrison.
“This season and postseason ranks right up there as being one of the best — if not the best — overall season for Warren Dragons’ swimming and diving,” he said. “Both individually and as a team, the awards and scoring reflected that we are formidable and have some of the best kids in all of Pennsylvania and District 10. Oh yeah, what else can be said about this senior class? Very hard-working, very dedicated and extremely competitive. Day in and day out, they prepared themselves to the highest level and their accolades truly showed the testament of their efforts.”
