Third quarter sends Sheffield past Brockway
SHEFFIELD — Sheffield defeated Brockway 50-47 in a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association District 9 boys basketball game on Wednesday.
After a slow start for the Wolverines, the strung together three strong quarters to pull away from the Rovers. At halftime Sheffield trailed 24-21, but a strong third quarter gave way to a 35-31 score. Both teams played an even fourth as Sheffield held on for the win.
Connor Finch shined for Sheffield scoring 19 points, grabbing seven rebounds and making five blocks. Lucas McNeal added 16 points and also grabbed seven rebounds; Leihden Wotorson pitched in 5 points, four rebounds and three assists, and Tony Richards scored 7 points and made three assists.
Brockway was led by Marcus Bennett with 14 points and Alex Carlson scored 13 points.
