Warren boys claim third straight hoops victory

The Warren boys basketball team jumped out to a 10-point first-quarter lead en route to a 67-34 Region 5 win over Fort LeBoeuf on Wednesday at Warren Area High School.

It’s the third straight win for Warren, which is 9-5 overall and 6-1 in the region. The Bison fall to 4-9 overall and 2-5 in Region 5.

Parks Ordiway scored 9 points for Warren in the 31-20 first half. The Dragons sealed it with a 23-7 third quarter. JT Blum and Owen Becker combined for 15 points in the quarter.

“We gave up 14 second-half points with no 3-pointers,” said Warren coach Jeff Berdine.

Offensively, with point guard Tommy Nyquist adding 11 points, the Dragons had just four turnovers in the game.

“I thought we executed very well coming out to start the second half by getting us some open looks out of our sets,” said Berdine.

Warren also won the junior varsity game, 59-26, after leading by 30 at halftime. Braylon Barnes led Warren’s jayvees with 18 points, Brady Berdine added 14, Konnor Hoffman 12, and Jack Darling 7.
