Lady Eagles begin region games

The Youngsville Lady Eagles started region play this week playing Union City on Monday and Cochranton Thursday. Between the region games, the Lady Eagles also played Kane on Wednesday.

After the first half of the Kane game, the Lady Eagles were only down 31-25. The Lady Wolves defense made adjustments in the second half only allowing 9 points from the Lady Eagles to finish the game 62-34.

“Very happy with the effort tonight from the entire team,” Youngsville Coach Jason Peterson stated. “We had a tough region loss early in the week but practiced hard yesterday and did a much better job of mentally preparing to play hard tonight.”

For Kane, Mia Anderson led with 13 points and Maya Smith had 12 points. Mia Rafalski led Youngsville with 11 points and Kenzie Olewine had 10.

“We have a tough stretch of games playing five games in eight days,” Peterson added.

Starting off that stretch with their first home game against Cochranton who they played Thursday night, the Lady Eagles took a hard loss on their home court 60-21. Carly Ritcher led Cochranton with 22 points and Olivia Darling led Youngsville with 8 points.

The Lady Eagles face Titusville on today at 1 p.m.
