Warren had an improved showing in its second wrestling dual, dropping a 43-28 match to McDowell on Wednesday at Warren Area High School.
In addition to two forfeit wins, Josh Letko and Damien Sanchez earned late victories to bring the score closer.
“The team, as a whole, is improving week to week,” said Warren coach Ted Carrington. “Josh bumped up a weight class to claim his victory, (and) Sanchez had a big win after nursing some nagging injuries.”

At 138 pounds, Letko major decisioned Lucas Kurelowech 11-3 while Sanchez pinned Lucas Oblinski at 172 pounds.
“(Christian) Papalia wrestled a great match and said he knows what he needs to do to get better,” said Carrington of his 113-pounder’s 8-5 loss by decision to Nassir Simmons.
“Jack Napolitan (freshman at 126), returning to wrestling after being off for a few years, is improving every day and never gives up,” said Carrington. “Jack fought extremely hard to not give up a pin.”
Napolitan lost a 10-0 major decision to Conner Dvorek.
Warren (0-2 in Region 4) lost its first two matches by fall and had a forfeit at heavyweight to trail 18-0 at the start.
