Kophazy making name for herself on the mat

Jenna Kophazy is quickly making a name for herself as a wrestler.
Very quickly.
The Beaty Warren Middle School eighth-grader went 5-0 — all first-period pins — to win her bracket at the first-ever Queen of the Mountain Wrestling Tournament last Sunday in Bald Eagle.
The Central Mountain High School Wrestling Booster Club hosted the event and CM head coach Biff Walizer said the turnout of 120 participants is believed to be the biggest such girls scholastic event in state history.
Representing Crawford County Girls Wrestling, Warren’s Kophazy finished first at 103 pounds with five pins — all in under a minute.

Crawford County Girls Wrestling Club, with head coach Kane Patron and under USA Wrestling, is relatively new, yet finished second out of 26 teams. Jenna recently had the first win in the program’s history in November.
“Jenna is 11-4 on the season and wrestling mostly Madison-style tournaments, which can range over two to three weight classes grouped together,” said Jenna’s father, Keith Kophazy. “This is a girls’ team ranking third in the state out of all girls teams in Pennsylvania. The coach of this team is making it fun for these young ladies.”
