Postseason matchups set
Warren girls to play for D10 title Thursday at Titusville
Playoff matchups were announced this weekend for the Warren boys soccer, girls soccer, football and volleyball teams.
Tickets for District 10 playoffs events this week are available at piaadistrict10.org/d10-tickets.
FOOTBALL
Warren football will receive a first-round playoff bye, thus making room for a regular-season finale versus Corry at 7 p.m. Friday at War Memorial Field.
The Dragons (4-4) will open the District 10 playoffs in the Class 4A semifinals in a rematch with General McLane (5-3) on Saturday, Nov. 6 at a time and site to be determined.
McLane and Warren are both 4-2 in D10 Region 5, and the Lancers edged Warren on Oct. 1 in an exciting 34-31 game.
VOLLEYBALL
Warren volleyball earned a share of Region 5 title with an equal 6-2 record and season split with Conneaut. Warren had four matches this past week, going 3-1 and ending with a loss on Saturday at state-ranked Class 2A Corry.
The Dragons will open in the six-team D10 3A playoffs at 6 p.m. Thursday versus Meadville at Cochranton Junior/Senior High School.
Warren is the fourth seed and has swept fifth-seeded Meadville twice this season.
The winner will face top-seeded Villa Maria (which earned a first-round bye) in the 3A semifinals.
BOYS SOCCER
By way of a co-Region 4 title, Warren’s boys soccer team (12-3) will play Harbor Creek (7-9) at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Titusville in the Class 3A semifinals.
The winner will play Cathedral Prep (16-1-1) for the D10 title. Warren advanced to the D10 title game in 2020 before falling to Prep.
GIRLS SOCCER
Warren’s girls soccer team (10-8) will play Meadville (4-13) — the only teams in the bracket — at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, also at Titusville, for the D10 3A championship. The Dragons defeated Meadville twice in the regular season.
