Trumbull shines at Big 30 Game
BRADFORD, Pa. — Eisenhower quarterback Owen Trumbull threw for two touchdowns to lead the Pennsylvania squad to a 35-0 win over New York in the Big 30 All-Star Charities Classic last Saturday.
The shutout for Pennsylvania was the first in the game since a 27-0 Pennsylvania win in 2008 and the fifth in the all-time series.
Pennsylvania led 21-0 at halftime en route to the victory.
In the first quarter, Port Allegany’s Taro Tanaka caught a 18-yard touchdown pass from Kane’s Zuke Smith and Otto-Eldred’s Jake Merry added the point-after kick.
Trumbull threw his first touchdown of the game, a 5-yarder to Eisenhower teammate Dillon Benson, in the second quarter. Smith added another touchdown throw to Warren’s Alex Bon, a 28-yarder, later in the second quarter. Two more Merry PATs made it 21-0.
After halftime, Smith ran in a touchdown from 6 yards out in the third quarter before Trumbull threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Warren’s Donovan Fiscus and added a 2-point conversion pass to Port Allegany’s Trey Ayers in the fourth quarter.
Trumbull finished 6 of 8 for 65 yards and the two touchdowns.
For New York, Salamanca’a Lucas McKenna completed two passes for 16 yars and ran for 37 yards. Portville’s Hunter Griffin ran for 62 yards and threw for 30 yards through the air.
