Jackals’ winning streak ends at seven
SYRACUSE — The Jamestown Jackals saw their seven-game winning streak in The Basketball League come to an end Saturday.
Barely.
Trahson Burrell poured in 38 points, grabbed 17 rebounds and dished out seven assists to lead Syracuse to a 128-126 victory over the Jackals at Bishop Grimes Junior/Senior High School.
Joining Burrell in double figures for the Stallions were Michael Henry with 23 points and nine rebounds; Maurice Taylor Jr. with 19 points and nine boards; and Jordan Robertson and Jimmy Gray with 14 points apiece.
As it turned out, Syracuse, which led, 72-53 at the break, needed every one of them as the Stallions saw a 23-point lead evaporate in the second half.
The loss spoiled a pair of brilliant performances by Jamestown’s Dane Miller (39 points, 13 rebounds) and Four Mcglynn (33 points). Nobles Christian chipped in with 18 points and 11 rebounds; Bernard Edwards had 14 points and eight rebounds; Raheem Singleton collected 11 points and six boards; and Daniel Mulamba had 11 rebounds.
The loss dropped the Jackals to 13-4 on the season.
