A conversation during a recent Warren County School District board meeting regarding flexible learning merits further discussion for both good and bad. We’re referring to the discussion over flexible learning on days when weather forces school to be canceled or on delay. It’s obviously preferable to have students learning when school is canceled - particularly when we have a stretch of severe weather like the one that has hit Warren County over the past couple of weeks. It took the threat of federal penalties to push Gov. Josh Shapiro into taking seriously the issue of SNAP errors in Pennsylvania. In our opinion the state has a bigger issue with Medicaid fraud - and it shouldn’t take the threat of federal action to get the state to take the fraud problems seriously. Dear Editor, The overwhelming generosity of the people of Warren County and the surrounding area helped provide joy to children in need through Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts this season. Over 5,450 shoeboxes collected at Pleasant Community Church in Warren were delivered to the Samaritan’s Purse processing center. Shoebox gifts from Warren, Crawford and Erie counties were then sent on to Thailand, Panama, Honduras, Equador, Colombia and Guatemala for distribution to children ages 2-14.
