Our opinion: An important partnership in tourism
Even during the fall and winter seasons, Warren County is a great place to visit due to its natural and scenic settings. Recently, a gathering — sponsored by the Warren County Visitors Bureau — focused on bringing together some of those who work to keep tourists happy.
During a Lodger’s Luncheon, individuals who manage hotels and oversee short-term rentals shared information and ideas. “Our primary goal was to begin to build a friendly, working relationship with the lodging establishments because it fits in perfectly with our mission,” said Casey Ferry, Warren County Visitors Bureau executive director. “As the designated Tourist Promotion Agency for Warren County, our primary focus is getting ‘heads in beds,’ so getting to know those who have the actual beds makes perfect sense.”
The mission of the Visitors Bureau is to assume a leadership role to stimulate and support tourism and economic growth in Warren County, the Pennsylvania Wilds, and Northwest Pennsylvania through education, promotion, marketing, and cooperative and regional partnerships to increase overnight stays. Keeping the accommodations segment of this initiative engaged is important to future endeavors and initiatives.
One of the newer key pieces is the short-term rentals. With some 116 listed in the county, it proves that our region — through any season — is a destination for those who want to be in the great outdoors.
