Our opinion: Capitalizing on nature’s beauty

The Allegheny Reservoir is a beautiful area.

Most local residents know that, but the reservoir is a secret once one leaves our general area.

A $75,000 state grant secured by the Warren County Development Association, the Warren County Commissioner’s office and state Senator Scott Hutchinson’s office aims to change that in two ways — better marketing and a plan for future development that is sure to get people talking.

Sites identified for redevelopment include Kinzua Beach, the Kinzua Point Information Center, Wolf Run Marina and the Trails at Jakes Rocks.

Most stakeholders in the area are already on board with the proposal. Addditionally, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Allegheny National Forest are willing to be partners in redevelopment as well. A timeline for projects could be in place by August 2022.

Every area should be known for something. Outdoor recreation is something Warren County already does well. Let’s do it better.
