Park proposal needs comments
It is a beginning that deserves the full participation of the Warren community. At 6 p.m. today, the Parks & Recreation Commission will meet in the municipal building to hear a presentation of the Washington Park Plan from Mackin Engineering.
Public comment will follow, which is an important part of the process. The 65-acre park situated overlooking Warren off of Liberty Street includes “parking, a grass picnic area with concrete tables and grills and an overlook and steep hillside which provides visitors with beautiful views of the city and Allegheny River,” according to the city’s draft park plan.
“The park could provide city and surrounding residents with local recreation and leisure activities as well as educational programming, but the park is currently underutilized,” the plan, also drafted by Mackin Engineering, explains.
In our opinion pages alone, we have read many differing opinions on how to proceed with the park. This meeting is one more venue in getting voices of the community heard.
Tonight’s meeting will also have a Zoom option, officials said. For details on how to register for that, visit cityofwarrenpa.gov.
