Our opinion: Attending as good sports
There is normally one thing that takes away from the disappointment of summer’s end: that is the fall athletic season.
While some programs are already underway, others begin this week.
One of the biggest questions these events have brought, comes from some of the biggest fans — the parents. Will we be able to watch our son or daughter participate?
Last week, Gov. Tom Wolf made some minor changes to the policies regarding attendance. In the section labeled “Guidance Applicable to All Sporting Events” is this language: “Spectators may attend sporting events, but count towards the statewide large gathering limitations — 25 or fewer people indoors, 250 or fewer outdoors — and must follow the Universal Face Covering Order and social distancing guidance when arriving, attending, and departing the event.”
Final decisions on how to proceed with this recommendation are up to the district. That being said, Wolf’s requirement covers all the bases — and keeps capacity at a minimum.
This, with all things considered regarding COVID-19, is an acceptable starting point.
