More than hypocrisy

Dear Editor,

A recent article stated that hypocrisy is a symptom of Trump Derangement syndrome. That most definitely is correct.

But hypocrisy is not the sole symptom, it is joined by hate, intentional blindness, and jealousy. Everything that Trump is currently doing has been done by previous presidents including the most recent three Democrats in Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden even though Biden didn’t and still doesn’t know he did!

Some of the actions are, but not limited to, bombing of other countries without Congressional approval, deportation of illegal aliens (Obama still has a number higher than Trump on this one), bringing drug cartel leaders to justice, making adjustments or renovations to the White House just to name a few. So the popular question remains: Where was all the very stupid outrage then like there is now?

Democrats close their eyes (intentional blindness) to the good that Trump is doing just for the simple fact that it is Trump. Because obviously it was OK for them when their Democrat president did the same exact thing.

Hate and jealousy go hand in hand as they hate Trump so much and are jealous of him due to the fact that he is doing what Democrats have only ever talked about, and that is completing what they campaigned on and keeping promises. Obama and Clinton campaigned on and preached while in office of secure borders. Yet they failed.

However, they both won my vote on those promises alone. I only voted for Obama in his first term as he put the American citizen on the back burner with his not at all Affordable Care Act.

Take a look at President Clinton’s 1995 State of the Union address or Obama’s comment in 2005 as senator on illegal immigration, or Sen. Chuck Schumer’s 1996 speech on illegal immigration and voter ID. They were all singing a different tune — then a complete 180! And Biden, well he had no clue on what the hell he was doing.

Fast forward to now and all of you who hide behind hate, jealousy, intentional blindness and hypocrisy should be ashamed of yourselves for putting all that before your country! It is truly 100% un-American!

Democrats are too worried about federal agents wearing masks. (Wish they could make their minds up on this — wear a mask when we want you to, but don’t wear a mask if it truly is going to protect you.

They also worry about a ball room being built at no cost to the taxpayers — every president modified the White House in some way, whether men can have babies (I learned in probably third grade that only one of the only two genders can have a baby and just so you know men are not it). They are so preoccupied with these non-issues that they are neglecting what they were elected to do and that is to take care of and represent the American citizen which they proved at the most recent State of the Union address they don’t give a damn about. The most important thing to remember about illegal immigration is that at the beginning, middle, and end of the day it is illegal. It is a crime, it breaks our law! Democrats will argue “some of them have jobs” and that is true but for every job that an illegal alien has is one job that a U.S. citizen cannot have thus putting more unneeded strain on our already broken welfare system.

If Democrats are so for the people like they say they are and want you to believe they are then why are they so against and very afraid of voter ID, and voting in person like it used to be pre covid times in the USA? it would only benefit US citizens and the country all together!

The answer is that they would not be able to cheat as much or as easily and it would mean that their four year open border policy was all for nothing.

Hopefully maybe just maybe this will help the Saturday protesters by the courthouse here in Warren realize just how stupid and hypocritical their signs are that they hold! But I seriously doubt it!

Bigger thinking here

Dear Editor,

I read the recent Times Observer editorial on the idea of microgrants, and I’ll be honest — I’m not convinced. Warren’s economic challenges are real and long-standing. If we’re serious about bringing new businesses here, we have to ask whether small, scattered microgrants actually move the needle or if they simply make us feel like we’re doing something.

Starting a business takes real capital, real mentorship, and a plan that lasts longer than a small one-time boost.

We also need to be honest about how our local efforts connect. WarrenWorx has already been receiving funding from the city of Warren and the County of Warren. That raises a fair question for all of us: how do these efforts translate into actual startups that open their doors, hire people, and stay here? The person who wants to open a shop downtown or start a small manufacturing business needs more than encouragement — they need a structure that truly helps them succeed.

And maybe the hardest question is one we should ask ourselves as a community. What grants from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania have we seriously pursued?

The state offers real economic development funding aimed at revitalizing towns just like ours. Have we chased those opportunities with the same energy? Warren deserves bold thinking and a willingness to examine whether our current approach is enough — because the future of this town is too important to settle for small ideas.

World going wireless

Dear Editor,

I read the editorial of March 3 on broadband in the county. Why are you advocating this? Starlink is $50 per month, T-Mobile is $30 per month, both wireless.

You’re touting spending $8,333 per household to install land based internet that will cost upwards of $80 per month.

Every technology we currently use is trending wireless. Wireless TV signal, security cameras, trail cameras, Bluetooth sound, self-driving cars, GPS, etc.

How many people do you know that have a wired home phone? Why are we spending any money at all on technology that will be completely obsolete in five years? What a waste of our tax dollars.

Taken for a ride

Dear Editor,

Picture this. An old friend, lets call him LeRoy, always buys the same brand of car. Lets say American Motors cars. His father did too. It’s a family tradition. American Motors had a long established reputation for quality and choices to attract a variety of buyers. American Motor cars was the country’s most popular car company

LeRoy bought a new car every four years. When LeRoy went to buy his last American Motors car, he discovered things had changed. The cars were only gold with orange interiors and the radio only had one station which aired the same music and news. The commercials promoted the same product. LeRoy didn’t mind because he always listened to that station.

American Motors had a new CEO, who with his loyal followers turned American Motors upside down. They produced only one model, The Exploiter. No more production of E vehicles. Images and statues of The Exploiter suddenly appeared on buildings around town. The old salesmen were gone. The new, glib, sales people promised fantastic gas mileage, lower prices, and upgrades as standard features. They ignored, even insulted, customers if non-white. Actually, wealthy customers were given VIP treatment.

Speakers blared inside and outside the showroom and American Motors car radios repeated the same best ever promises and often questionable or wrong news but always entertaining music.

LeRoy discovered the price has risen considerably. He was told it was due to a tariff placed on foreign car manufacturers. LeRoy paid the extra amount.

Early within the first year, LeRoy’s gold Exploiter had troubles, serious problems. Wheels started to wobble. The gold paint faded, revealing nasty undercoating. The rear view mirror fell off. The car burned oil and left behind a cloud of blue smoke for the less fortunate drivers who were behind. A disturbing noise was coming from the transmission which The Exploiter mechanics refused to investigate.

Things are not right but still about a third of the American Motors buyers are loyal return customers. Customers used to be varied but like LeRoy, now most are male, live in rural areas, and feel resentment. Many are angry and feel betrayed and agree with the radio’s blaming other car companies, allied trading partners, and others for the decline.

The CEO exploited the resentment and with his billionaire friends’ backing had seized control of American Motors. The CEO then exploited his control of American Motors ignoring his promises to LeRoy and his like-minded friends adding to their misery. Despite the CEO’s assurance their affordability struggle was over, the buyers continued to work two jobs, neither offering adequate medical or retirement benefits and, barely meeting their basic needs. Car sales declined as did American Motors’ reputation. Meanwhile the American Motors stock owners, many were the CEO’s friends and family, were raking in money hand over fist.

Some loyal American Motors Exploiter buyers proudly admit they ignore “Consumers Report” and other magazines’ car review articles.

The 1975 Lemon Car Law applies to the American Motors Company and to its CEO. Unsafe cars are a hazard to all. The Law demands accountability but it is doubtful if the CEO’s loyal sheriff will pursue charges.

LeRoy and the one third deserve better but they will not receive it unless they change American Motors management. LeRoy could start by turning off the radio and reading objective car articles.

Not a pretty picture.
